The Wicked Spoon! Breakfast at the Cosmopolitan Buffet!

I was in Las Vegas last December for the grand opening of City Center and the Aria Casino.  The hype was incredibly great that night!  If you have been to Aria and City Center, then the only word to use is "indescribable."  City Center is like no other place on earth!
Cosmopolitan Casino opened at City Center last night.  I had to try the food at Cosmopolitan.  Hungry as hell from partying, I went to the Cosmopolitan Buffet for breakfast.  I usually shy away from restaurants on an opening day.  The food on opening day can fall well short of expectations.  That seems to happen more often than not.  A great restaurant does have a great reputation if the food is a success.  People want to taste the food on opening day.  The atmosphere is important too.
The Cosmopolitan Breakfast Buffet blew me away!  The dining atmosphere is way beyond chic and comfortable.  The atmosphere was beyond any expectations.  You have to experience the dining area to understand!
The waitstaff was unreal!  They waited on customers like no other buffet I have ever seen.  The service was superb!
The food was the best I have ever seen on an opening day!  Minor problems with proper temperature on a few items was the only criticism.  The quality and the menu variety was outstanding.
Some of the high end buffets in Las Vegas are gourmet culinary destinations.  A superb Beef Wellington at Bellagio's buffet.  The complimentary Steamed Lobster at Aria's Friday night buffet.  The superb salads and entrees at the Wynn buffet.  The high end Las Vegas buffets cost a bit more money, but with the price comes some expertly cooked gourmet food.
Cosmopolitan buffet falls into the Las Vegas gourmet buffet category.  They serve a very trendy breakfast at the Cosmopolitan!  There are no labels on the food.  Just ask an attendant what the food item is if you are not sure.  The waitstaff is well educated on the menu du jour items.  There are many varieties of very modern trendy egg entrees to choose from.  Omelette entrees were cooked to order with some very nice ingredients to choose from.  Imported cheese and sausages.  The smoked salmon was of a very nice quality.  The assorted smoked and pickled fish were very well crafted.  The carving station had some very nicely roasted ham, beef and fresh roasted bacon.
If you dine on a late breakfast like I did, then some of the lunch food stations open up.  I love sushi for breakfast!  Cosmopolitan has some good sushi chefs working at the buffet.  So I had some sushi too.  The sushi offerings were typical California style and some very nice traditional Japanese style sushi.
Here are pictures of the dessert plate that I put together.  I did say I was hungry!  The mango sorbet was superb!  The chocolate crunch coated apple was so satisfying.  The creme and mousse were garnished with edible pure gold foil!  Gold is a food item that I have not worked with for years.  Gold always adds excitement to a dessert.  Edible flower petals garnished the desserts too.
Cosmopolitan Breakfast Buffet?  Highly recommended by yours truly!  The other two pictures are of the Chandelier Bar and one of the Cosmopolitan lounges.  ...  Shawna
