Ramen Noodles and Crispy Eel with Caramelized Onion and Garlic
Another Gourmet Ramen Noodle Creation! Yummy Crispy Eel!
I sure do post some nice creative gourmet ramen noodle recipes! The gourmet noodle restaurant trend is still going strong. There are several gourmet ramen noodle restaurants in Chinatown Las Vegas where the ramen noodle chefs let it all hang out!
Crispy eel is easy to make, but it is also offered pre-prepared as a canned product. I found a can of nice quality crispy eel in a market in Chinatown Las Vegas. Crispy eel is usually used for making sushi. Crispy eel is marinated and basted with a sweet soy sauce. Canned crispy eel is perfect for a ramen noodle entree!
I wanted to accent the flavor of the crispy eel with simple rich complimentary flavors. Caramelized onion and garlic seemed like a nice choice. Caramelized onion and garlic actually was my only choice, because I decided not to go grocery shopping today!
Ramen Noodles and Crispy Eel with Caramelized Onion and Garlic Recipe:
Open a small can of crispy roasted eel. (A small can has about 5 ounces of crispy eel in it.)
Carefully remove the crispy eel pieces, without breaking them.
Remove any bones that are attached to the crispy eel filets.
Boil 1 portion of ramen noodles in light fish stock in a small sauce pot over high heat. Just use enough broth to barely cover the noodles.
Add 1 pinch of turmeric.
Prepare the rest of the ingredients, while the noodles cook!
Heat a saute pan over medium heat.
Add 1 small splash of vegetable oil.
Add 1 small handful of very thin sliced onion.
Add 6 garlic cloves.
Saute the onions and garlic, till they become caramelized to a brown color.
Add 2 teaspoons of minced ginger.
Add sea salt and white pepper.
Add 2 teaspoons of sesame oil.
Saute for 3 seconds, till the ginger becomes aromatic.
Remove the pan from the heat.
Assembly:
Place the boiled ramen noodles and the fish broth into a shallow soup bowl.
Arrange the crispy eel filets on top of the noodles.
Place the caramelized onions and garlic on top of the noodles and crispy eel.
Garnish with an Italian parsley sprig.
Yummy simple and delicious! This combination of flavors is very nice. Eel is loaded with omega 3 fatty acids. This is a healthy tasty bowl of ramen noodles! Yum! ... Shawna
